Strengths and trade-offs

Strengths

  • Best feed conversion of the common strains — the difference compounds over six cycles a year
  • Available from most Pakistani hatcheries, though placed less than Cobb
  • Large body of published performance data to benchmark against

Trade-offs

  • Slightly lower breast yield than Cobb 500 in several trials
  • Rewards good management — the efficiency advantage shrinks under heat stress or poor brooding

In Pakistan

Around 15% of national broiler production — well known and respected, but not the default here the way it is in some markets. Published FCR comparisons between Ross and Cobb disagree depending on the trial, which is itself worth knowing: do not choose a strain on a single FCR claim.
